Tom Thumb Lagoon, NSW

Between the NSW south coast centres of  Wollongong and Port Kembla is Tom Thumb Lagoon.

It is the second original Revive site and is a remnant 5 hectare urban wetland containing significant mudflat and saltmarsh habitat.

Tom Thumb Lagoon wetlands have been listed as an Endangered Ecological Community, it is an important breeding ground for the Green and Golden Bell Frog in addition to being habitat for migratory birds protected under international agreements

The wetland is predominately a salt marsh with substantial tidal areas.  This wetland forms the drainage basin for the Allen’s ck catchment. This catchment is primarily residential leading to storm water borne weeds and rubbish that cause negative impacts to this delicate ecology.

Teams will focus on bush regeneration techniques, helping the wetland to recover from various human impacts and to increase the habitat values of the area.
