Coomonderry Swamp, NSW

Between the NSW South Coast centres of  Wollongong and Nowra is Coomonderry Lagoon.

Coomonderry Swamp, Shoalhaven Heads, is a large freshwater swamp supporting a range of bird species and the threatened Green and Golden Bell Frog.

The area surrounding Coomonderry Wetland contains large areas of coastal dune forest on an ancient sand barrier.

The area supports a diverse range of arboreal mammals, migratory birds, reptiles and frog species, including the threatened green and golden bell frog.

Coomonderry Wetland comprises the largest freshwater wetland and the largest remaining area of littoral rainforest on the south coast.

The team will focus on bush regeneration techniques, and helping the wetland to recover from various human impacts such as nutrient run off and unmanaged cattle grazing.
