Adelaide River Floodplains
(Bankers and Black Jungle, Djukbinj National Park and Fogg and Harrison Dam)

Some of Australia's most important breeding grounds for the Magpie Goose are located on the Adelaide River floodplains, near Darwin.

The Revive sites here are Fogg Dam, Harrison Dam, Black Jungle, Djukbinj National Park and Bankers Jungle.

Nearly 500,000 geese have been recorded in one season.

The sites are a major dry season refuge area for almost 90 species of waterbirds and a significant migration stopover for shorebirds.

Between 15-18 species of frog plus freshwater turtles make the landscape home.

Both wooded swamps and floodplain fringing vine forests are well represented in these areas.  Natural regeneration and weed removal (Mimosa pigra) are major targets along with a reduction in feral animal (pigs) and grazing populations.
